Day 2-Ephemera Paducah KY

We were finalizing our papers in the morning and making sure with fresh eyes if there was anything else we wanted to do with them before we give them a final top coat of the Gloss medium.  After that we went in to small exercises to learn technique of tacking, glazing, shadowing and adding in gestural lines...
Lean In,  12 x 12 collage on wood panel with image transfers.

By afternoon I shared the process again in a demo,  starting off with a horizontal piece then allowing the papers to speak to me as to where they should be...all the while being aware of the image transfer I wanted to use, the leaning wooden manikin. There's a bit of glare with this piece, sanded magazines with acrylics added, drawing papers with solid color, Kraft paper painted, blocking off with deli sheets and stenciling some gestural lines and stamping with stamps again...a repeated process all the way through...so what we did to the papers we work it through the layers to the top. The white paper was engineer plans that I used gesso over and then coated it.  Pushing back the print on the paper so it was so noticeable.   Student's will be starting their wood panel collages today and possible a second one.
