Journal entry from Tree Spirited Woman Class

The picture of the elder woman, is from the internet. I feel a wildness and flowing movement especially with her hair.  Meeting an elder that has a life time of experience and stories is something we have to remember when we come in contact. What does it feel like to not have someone want to hear you?   The journal is stitched together in page sections instead of glued for the sturdy support. I shared this in my class so that it give the students an option. To glue or stitch.

When flipping over the elders sections with is in the middle of the page there is an overwhelming amount of texture. This feeling of seeing that texture can make you shut the journal book if your not ready to pause and move slowly and see the relationship between them all.

A section of the page from above has a piece of deli sheet over an image of a woman with her hands on her head. Possible expressing that feeling of overwhelmedness. (not sure if that's a word, but for now it it is.)  If you were holding the journal I would hope that the touch would also stimulate you to then come to this section of the page and life the transparent papers and see this woman.

So Migration is happening with the Sandhill Cranes, Eagles and Hawks along with Turkey Vultures and all the other winged ones that head south.  I wonder what that looks like in time lapse from up above.  In the Story of Tree Spirit Woman the idea of the Hawk in the Sky means another presence of Tree Spirit Woman in a some way.  Or an aspect of that spirit world.   Do you see the fibers which are plastic on the right side there laying on the pages.  There has been a tarp on the outside of the Building of Mayslake Peabody Estate which was protecting parts of the build that are old and need repair.  The time and weather must have torn the plastic and the long ribbon like fibers were left.  I grabbed it and found a way to incorporated them in to the journal.  The will be a nest effect.

The journal pages are like a Dutch door effect where the middle section opens up and you can inter act with the section in different ways with the other page spreads.   So this is the closer look at the fibers and the sections.  The wall paper I had found a while back is now used as a likeness of plant fibers with in the forest area, Could be grass at one point or could be old forest growth that is dying off.

Being able to art journal is something I've wanted to do more of.  And I'm happy to say it's makings it's way in and it feels good.  I want to added this, "Art is not a thing, it is a way of being, no judgement, no reaction only responding."  When I bring life and self to the page I have the grace and space to self-express with all my imperfections, where I can be Real, Awesome and Whole.  "RAW"
