Fat Ringlet Series-Tack Down Tuesday

Photo reference for Carry Me Away  long time ago I would walk and take pictures then come back and sort through them. Picking what I like the best and from there I would create an abstract collage.
I'm not sure what these ringlets are for, they seem like big salt block things but I think it has to do with something related to fishing because they were found on Washington Island in Door County one year.

When I look at this ringlets together I feel a bit off kilter with them, much line how I've been feeling as we move into the holiday season here.  Things are always changing but it just feels like way to fast.  When I was thinking about if I should create a piece of art for Tack Down Tuesday I debated.  But the showing up won out and here you have collage work about processing through the changes at every turn that we have to make.  Making choice is a key but when you have to do it again and again with no break its taxing on the mental, spiritual and physical and emotions.  Something we all know well but don't want to make the norm.   I should have called it Off Kilter but the Fat Ringlets title for me adds a playful attitude to the whole finished process.

#122120-TDT "Fat Ringlet Series" 4- 6 x 6 pieces of collage art on Wooden Cradle Panels

Materials Used: Magazines sanded and altered, white drawing paper, geological maps painted, acrylic mark making, painted drawing paper, stamping, acrylics glazing, and shadowing, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.

Meaning behind the art: I ran across an old piece of artwork in my computer flies and was brought back to earlier years of study with elements and principle of design. I liked a ringlet shape and with the new sanded magazine papers I made a few weeks back I knew what papers I was going to use.  Then I picked out about 6 other papers that would go with the palette and shut the collage paper box up so I would go digging for more.  The process of only using what I have in front of me is nothing new, but it was welcome process friend in the studio.  And working in a series is always fun to find out how I can use it differently but still have it relate to each other.  The pieces can be arranged in many ways. They can be vertical or horizontal or displayed in a square.
