Just a little drive...that's all

Started off early in the morning on June 27th...in the Transit for a good 6 hours with the dear husband. I did my homework and prepared my attitude for it.  Sound odd...but I can be a bit testy and so can he while driving...heck we are I sure bet there are a good 10 or so more.   Knowing that about each other... it wasn't a test of will, it was awareness of how the other person's perceptions are and what they feel comfortable with. Right or wrong is the question but feel safe and comfortable.  The need to know and have an exit is a big one too. My husband doesn't like to be put in a situation because someone else was behaving poorly and not follow the general rules of the road. So with knowing that...all I was better able to understand. Also we were able to laugh some odd personal behaviors we have off. Kind of knowing our quirky ways about each other, being vulnerable and it was OK. Some good laughs and fun poking were about both of our directionally challenged arena's...Right, left, north south and well over all which way did we come in so we can take the opposite way out...

So photo 1, with a van in front of us we pulled  up on the ferry that crossed the Ohio River into Kentucky with great timing we had to wait but a few minutes and we were crossing for free...the current was pretty strong.

Ferry lining itself up to the other side. picture from inside the Transit. Randy just got a kick out of this. he even got a picture of the GPS crossing the water way and listening to "her" tell us we are boarding the ferry.
Friday Night we were in Kentucky and visited Paducah which had some great sights. The wall to wall mural on the history of the town was spectacular.

Now I could be wrong but when I was little I remember my Grandpa Lein sharing with me that he was a Steam train Mechanic.  When Randy and I walked up to this Iron Horse it was breath taking..me I was in awe of the size and gears and all the bolts. I wanted close ups and hundreds of them but what I would Use them for...heck does it matter. I got a few good ones.

Like this nice close up...well kind of close up.

As we walked through Paducah we saw some great culture and this wall was amazing all small tiles. Great affect I think.

So on Saturday morning we venture out early and went back by the ferry area and Cave in the Rock...town and state park. Here is the entrance of it.

This is Randy in side of it...he was so cute...right up in there he went...see he's use to working down under or well down in the earth..laying pipe for water and sewers so when he gets to see something as awesome as this...it was so excited. Water drips down from the earth above so there seems to be weeping of going on all the time.

Then we venture to Garden of the Gods...this was really beautiful...so amazing...truly a Garden of the Gods.  I took a video but was very careful as I turned around and shot it...afraid to fall off...but the rocks are so big that it's really sturdy too. I wasn't as adventures as he was...holding my camera in my hands and not having two free hands to grab things made me a bit nervous, but I got some gum-shin and ventured out on a few.

 Reference photo..of the round rocks.

A bit of history about the area.

Some of the rock formations on the other side of the walk way.

And then we were in a town...forgot now but had Lunch in Ms Patti's and across from  there was the Home Place...all county furniture repurpose kind of but then I saw these sitting on the shelve.  They were what I was looking for the bathroom...the story is the glass is from 1930s and a woman would shoot the mason jars up...a big pile of the broken glass was left there till these artisan found it all and melted it down and remolded the glass in Mason jar molds  and then turned them into the lights...true or now there still very cool and will go well with the black legs on the sewing machine sink base....now mind you it's been sitting for a while as it's motorcycle season...but little by little when he's ready we will have all the right parts to bring it all together.

So there ends a weekend Anniversary of 33 years.  We both are Natured filled to the brim. We lived to share the story and didn't kill each other, in fact besides some difference there was mutual respect given and received and re connection.

  1. Re-connect, yeah! Smiling the whole time while reading your words and looking at your pictures because that's what Bob and I just did. 6 hours to Gulf Shores AL and 8 hours back along the FL coast, Fort Walton, Destin, Pensacola, Navarre and the n North to GA. Being together with no distractions, free, fun and feeling safe and protected. Priceless.
