Reception shot and a sketch

Paths on this Good Earth, 36 x 36 Collage on Canvas was part of an exhibit at the Tall Grass Art Association a while back with Midwest Collage Society.  The members then were invited to exhibit at the Victorian House Gallery in Bourbannais IL.  Beautiful old house.

On the way there to the Opening Receptions I brought my box of magazine pages and my little sketchbook to do some sketching. This is like what we are doing in my second on-line class'

As I look at this ideas making themselves present.   I love the word Womankind and using the font...how could I make paper large enough to be fused to a 36 x 36 canvas?   cut some stencils and make a resist and bring on paint over the area...is my first thought...but stuff like this pops into my head and gets the creative gears going.

  1. What a beautiful piece! I'm so happy to have found your site, videos and blog -- you are an inspiration and living proof that life lived from the spirit and the soul produces wonderful things and a better life for all. I admire your courage in posting your "to do" list and knocking the items off, too. It puts mine to shame!! Thanks Laura.

  2. I LOVE this collage. How DID you get that paper large enough (the green crackle finish). Anyway. It's lovely!

    1. The paper I use is an artist tissue paper that I stain that colors I want. It comes in big sheets. See my tabs above under my logo for a tutorial on Stained tissue paper. I learned and adapted it to my work from Carrie Burns Brown...she's got a great DVD out...look her up.
