Rock study Day 3

 Markers
 Graphite
 Watercolor
Gel pen scribble.

I took a ride with "the Husband" and we ended up past Dekalb or somewhere like that, so beautiful all the open land and farms. He wanted to look at an old Harley motor for a new choppers he's been talking about building...So I got out with him and listened to the guys talk for about 10 minutes and then I had head back to the truck.   Felt like a fifth wheel. So glad I brought my little sketch book and was ready for another around of 4.  I so love the same of these two rocks.

  1. I like your rock drawings because of the variety of media with the same subject. You said, "I so love" the two rocks and I was wondering why you love them...

    1. There the same element...rock but so different in shape, color and size. but they belong together. Supportive and the way that the rock have warn themselves as a couple. I could not image them apart...some symbolism there for sure.

  2. LOTS OF SYMBOLISM! That is one of your favorite aesthetic qualities; the CONTENT. Your work always communicates MEANING. Another aesthetic quality; FORMAL. these are the ways you arrange the Elements and Principles of Design. Your work always demonstrates strong composition. The third aesthetic quality of art has to to with the SUBJECT; or in other words, the recognizable, literal quality. Your work does not emphasize realism, rather, your work is abstract. And in my opinion, I like your non-objective (no recognizable subject) art work the best! Some of my favorites are your magazine and glue stick compositions. Lately, I am simply more visually pleased by simplicity...less is more...

    1. Oh thanks....its kind of cool to read about how you see my work. I of course never am thinking of it like that but would like the end result to portray something of quality. I would be totally lost and in a straight jacket if I would be able to communicate with self express in some form or another.

  3. I think self expression is really important to our psychological health, and I mean ALL people. The challenge we have as humans, is to choose healthy, rather than self-destructive ways to express who we are. Those choices are difficult enough, but they get even more difficult when we're still trying to figure out who we are and why we're here...Yes, just insert the word "I" wherever you see the word "we"...Lol
