Photo from inside the tent Friday Morning..How exciting.

Couldn't help myself and share this photo from the Internet..looks so comical doesn't it.. smiling away at us.. and had to look up what the meaning is for a praying mantis. just a quick reference I found this morning.

Praying Mantis Meanings in the Realms of Animal Symbolism

The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives. Usually the mantis makes an appearance when we've flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us because of the external din we've created. (well with the excitement of putting this all on I sure can relate to the animal symbolism, ever time I saw this creature I could help but get the chills and I wasn't cold either..it kind of woke me up and set me straight and got me to stop a bit and be thankful for how it all turned out.. call me crazy or just an artist but I relate to this kind of stuff always have and always will)

After observing this creature for any length of time you can see why the symbolism of the praying mantis deals with stillness and patience. The mantis takes her time, and lives her life at her own silent pace.

Well, the list to do has started for day two..I need to check my balloons..and replace them on the signs...a few withstood the winds yesterday but we are to get more coming in today.

So many people stopped by yesterday it was so fun see thing everyone... Melinda and her mom with the children they were have such fun finding my little critters in the house..Carl and Sophie... Melinda's oldest daughter always brings my pets some treats but Carl wasn't being to friendly...he was hiding.. I'm so glad the kids come it so important to introducing the next generation to art and all that stuff and you can see that in the her children how they like it so much....All good.  an extra Hi Mom,  to Melinda's mother ..
I know I'm so busy when these kinds of events take place that it's hard to say hi and by to all...Barb B. stopped in with her Girl Friend which was great to she them both.. I had Gale and Mary stop by and Gale didn't leave empty handed..she purchased one of abstract landscape piece that I really like too.. inspired from my walks in the woods.."Tall Grass" A few of the gals from class came by..Pam, Sue, and Janet. I had a visit from Deb Kres and her friend here from Chicago, and a few others from my workshops, Crystal and Jerri stopped by which I was happy about to.. Crystal and I were to get together awhile back and things didn't work well on my end so it was good lots saw the studio space too......and My mother in law which I didn't have time to chat with because it was demo time which I feel bad about but had to keep working...all was good and I'm so grateful to the weather gods for giving us this great cool weekend..nothing but a bit of a sweatshirt or light jacket can't fix.
so as I ramble on...time is passing and need to tend to things in the homestead and head out to the exhibit arena and start a new day..

  1. The tents and all the art looked so good Laura~ Your hard work really showed. The demos were enough to make me hungry to go home and play in my own studio~ Thank-you for being so generous with showing us your techniques. It takes a very confident artist to do this and your confidence shows in your work and your personality! I was so excited to see your studio too - love all the light you get being on the top floor. All in all a great experience for me and well worth the drive. I hope day 2 brings lots of sunshine your way!
