Papermaking process 4

Deckle still on the mold and all the water has drained off as much as possible.

The sheet of paper you see here is towards the end of the vat and the iris leaves almost gone and what is left is mostly the Abaca. I did want to show the edge of the paper after the deckle is pulled off. The sheet of paper is on a screen and it is still a bit fluffy till it flatten in the post.

Here is the Handmade papers hanging in the papermaking tent drying. The wind kicked up a bit and I had to go over to the neighbors yard and pick up a few sheet that blew off. Saved them but you've got to watch out for the windy days.

Pure sheet of Russian Iris leaves, hanging on a felt sheet drying. In the handmade paper world this sheet is really very sporadic in its distributions of the pulp and that's not a good sheet of paper or really strong but for collaging with it works out just fine. The best way to solve this problem is to have more pulp in the vat. I was light on that with the Russian Iris leaves but wanted to make as much as I could.

24 sheet of paper where pulled yesterday on Mothers Day. You can see the pure sheet of Russian Iris leaves then the paper becoming lighter by the amount of Abaca introduced and the decrease in the iris leaves.
